2012 Shirt Design

Thanks you everyone who contributed to helping us choose a new shirt for the coming season for our U15 team. We had a long discussion at yesterday’s board meeting when two clear contenders emerged. We’re now in the process of reaching a final decision which will be announced on this web site in the very near future.

Thanks to all the suppliers who worked with us on the designs and we are in the process of contacting each of you regarding our decision on which supplier we are looking to work with.

Volunteer Photographers

We would be interested in hearing from any amateur or professional photographers who would be interested in helping us to capture images of our players on match day - subject to relevant parental approvals. A big part of the strategic plan for the club this season is to improve the profile of the North Derbyshire Chargers across the region which include the publication of photographs and match reports in the local media.

We would not be able to offer any payment in return for these services, but would look to come to some arrangement whereby the club was able to use the images for publicity purposes, but the photographer would be able to offer them for sale to the parents and supporters.

We are also looking for someone to cover our shirt presentation night which is due to take place around the end of April. This will include headshots of the players from the various teams, members of the committee, coaches, etc for use on the web site and in promotional materials for the club – again, with the relevant parental consent.

If you would be interested in offering your services for the season, for home games or for one game then please get in touch.

Under 15 Team in Yorkshire League in 2012

We have received confirmation that the North Derbyshire Chargers RLFC Under 15s team have been accepted into the Yorkshire League for this coming season. This sees the team tested against some of the best comparable teams within the UK in the heartland of Rugby League.

Great work by everyone involved in putting together and delivering the presentation and another sign of the determination and ambition which the club has in developing our players and striving for improvement.

Lee Sanders’ Eagles Debut

After less than four years in existence North Derbyshire Chargers Rugby League club have produced their first player to progress to the professional ranks after local youngster Lee Sanders made a try scoring debut for Sheffield Eagles in their recent pre season Autism Plus Cup victory over South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster.

Sport Science student and first team captain at Sheffield Hallam University, Sanders who also represented the Midlands students Rugby League in 2011 and has spent time playing under Eagles experienced prop forward Mitchell Stringer at Hoyland Vikings joined the Chargers shortly after the club was formed in 2008. Since then he has progressed through the ranks at Sheffield and has recently been training with the Eagles first team squad. After impressing in the win over Doncaster Sanders will be looking to stake a claim for a place in the team on a regular basis alongside experienced international players from all over the world. Sanders’s achievement follows on from Chargers team mate Sam Hull’s 2010 England Community Lions Under 18’s selection. In addition to this a high number of junior players have also signed scholarship forms for the Eagles since being introduced to the game with the Chargers. With links between the Chargers and Sheffield Eagles getting closer these players are set to be the first of many who make the transition from junior rugby at North Derbyshire Chargers to professional rugby at Sheffield Eagles.

North Derbyshire Chargers will run teams this summer at Under 11’s, 13’, 15’s and open age. Start of training confirmed

The dates for starting training for next season have been agreed. For the Under 15 team, training will begin on February 18th at Barlborough Country Park. For all other teams, training begins on March 22nd, again at Barlborough Country Park. Times to be confirmed.
