We now have the fixture lists for the rugby league festivals involving our Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 14 teams. Details of these are available via the relevant link in the left hand menu.
In addition to these fixtures, there are also a number of rugby league events taking place within the region.
Girls Champion Schools (year 7,8,9,10,11)
Following the same format as the boys champion schools, the girls will play in a Derbyshire competition with the winners progressing into a Midlands final festival. A skills afternoon has been created to give everyone the opportunity to play Rugby League, even those with no previous experience of the game. The skills afternoon will involve participants receiving coaching in tackling, protective falling, play-the-ball and handling skills.
Boys Champion Schools (years 7,8,9)
A series of games will be played to find the champion school from Derbyshire and Nottingham with the winners will take home the Robin Hood Trophy. Games will be allocated to make sure that all matches are competitve. County school coaches will use this competition as a way of selecting players for the county schools team (e.g Derbyshire Schools R.L)
County schools programme
This year sees the launch of the Midlands Rugby League County Schools Programme as part of the Midlands Performance Pathway. Players will be selected to represent Derbyshire R.L in a test series against Nottinghamshire then later to playing in the Midlands final festival.
